Learning French? 6 French YouTuber Girlies To Watch Now

Tired of boring and demotivating French learning resources? I’m talking about those dense grammar books, robotic videos made by middle-aged language teachers, and GCSE-style textbooks…

YouTube is going to be your best friend here.

If you’re anything like me, you need to indulge in resources that feel relevant to you, your interests, and your goals.

If you’re already super busy, they need to easily integrate into your daily schedule and make you want to use them.

We all know that learning a language is a never-ending process, but at least make it fun, no?!

Just as you would in English, find content creators that you resonate with. For example, I would rather watch a chill vlog by a 20-something native speaker who shares my interests, e.g. in wellness, fitness, reading, and student life etc., than of a middle-aged teacher in front of a white board listing “The 10 most common slang words in French”. Is it just me?!

Not only does it require minimal motivation, but it is also the closest you’ll get to “hanging out” with a native from the comfort of your own room. It is a lot more natural, and the more you watch, the more you’ll naturally pick up on the modern tongue.

So whether you put these on as background noise, or cosy up on the sofa with a Matcha? Iced latte? Black americano? Here are a few of my favourite creators that I use to brush up on my French.

1. janelle dltr

Theme: Student 20-something girlie

J’adore. Janelle tops the list for a great all-rounder. Days-in-the-life, room décor, digital detox journeys, makeup, rentrée student prep and declutter videos: she covers it all.

She speaks at a good pace using common, straightforward vocabulary. If you were a twenty-something at uni in France, she’d probably be one of your classmates!

Her French is at a slower pace and is slightly more mature. It is also very French from France hehe.

Her French is a little more sped up, but she does employ some amazing French sayings.
